New Beginnings
May is going to be about travel, experiencing new things and creating new beginnings. It has been two years since I have been back to New York and the longing has only grown stronger over the time pasted. I came to Florida to find myself and make it on my own terms. I struggled through love, work and finding my passion. Realizing in the face of everything I thought I wanted I was at a loss for who I really was. Velvet Dream: 5 Ways to Add Velvet to your Closet
With Urban Outfitters recreating the 90s grunge movement and Gucci exploring the world of whimsy, velvet has exploded at all levels of the fashion spectrum and I have to say I am far from sad about it. Below is a list of 5 ways I plan on incorporating velvet into my wardrobe this winter!: Velvet socks: Darner makes these in a bunch of different colors and they seem to be the absolute best way to wear socks with a party dress. Velvet Tee: The tee below is from Made Well and is

The Great – A Brand to Love
The Great is a company that makes clothes I want to live in. Designers: Emily Current & Meritt Elliott 3 Reasons I love them: Their style feels classically American in a tangibly, homey way. Sick of your skinny jeans (I am) – they have options. There fabrics are yummy 🙂 Bonus: 4. They have tiny clothes for kids too!! What happened when Bob Dylan Met John Lennon…
An Iconic take on Fall Inspired by Bob Dylan & John Lennon A Fall Lookbook I still remember the exact moment I discovered Dylan. I believe I was in 8th or 9th grade and I borrowed-never to return a book from my brother (as he did to the school library) it was about the Grateful Dead. An encyclopedia of sorts including everything that happened to the band as well as everyone and thing that came into contact with the Dead since the band’s inception. One of those things being Dy

The Power of Layering
Sure mixing prints, textures and styles is exciting. And yes I throughly enjoy the challenge that comes from creating new looks out of the same ‘old’ pieces. However, I’ve also noticed that when I’m not feeling 100% that an extra layer can feel like body armor. And an extra two feels even stronger. Yet those layers don’t have to be obvious. They can be subtle and hard to define. Like an all black outfit or the shades of grey that make up each and everyone of us. Sure contrast

Falling for Icons
Had the most productive past two days with Mora. Making a movie one day and mimicking our idols the next. These photos are just a few out of the dozens we shot today for our fall lookbook. This time we focused on two musicians that have inspired us for years. Mora rocked her round gold frames over and over in tribute to one of her idols, John Lennon as I channeled my inner Dylan. In no way expecting to be their mirror we found excitement in a loose fashionable interpretation

How To Wear Horizontal Stripes
Personally I have never shied away from any type of stripe. Being a huge fan of neutral pallets and nautical inspired, stripes have always been something I gravitate towards. However, I understand some peoples concerns with horizontal stripes and how they draw your eye across the body emphasizing width. Yet I do not believe we should let these widely discussed ideas govern how we dress BECAUSE who is to say that these types of broad ideas are going to hold true to you or me p

A Poetic Take (31/32)
A couple of videos I made with Mora Mitchell on our youtube channel TreMora. These videos are about experimentation, expression & poetry. Déjà Vu Poem: Déjà Vu by Lang Leav An expression of friendship. As well as an opportunity for us to experiment with candle light. The Forest Poems: Butterfly by Dean Jackson “What good are wings..” Atticus There is Freedom Waiting For You by Erin Hanson An expressive look at growth and transformation. With behind the scenes footage of a Tre

Sailor at Work (28/32)
Today I had an amazing afternoon with my close friend/youtube partner Mora. Starting off the day at our unofficial office, Starbucks. We grabbed a coffee and started discussing/brainstorming for various projects, with the intention of having a productive day sewing and draping for our upcoming series Good Will Hunting. Taking about thirty minutes to get to my home studio from our meeting spot we had plenty of time to hash out some important details on the way. All that multi-

The Emotional Effects of Rain (26/32)
Used in many films to add intensity to a scene whether it be drama or romance. Rain has the ability to stir up emotions in us. Whether it be through the soothing sound of water hitting the ground or the ferocity of crashing thunder. It disrupts the quiet that would otherwise be and makes us feel something new. I personally enjoy a slightly unique relationship with rain. As I live in a place where it rains frequently and unpredictably. I have come to find the sound of a heavy

Apparently I Love this Sweater (25/32)
Relaxed, comfortable and fun. 3 words I try to live by when it comes to fashion/life. Sure sometimes sleek and elegant is good too. But for a lesurly sunday of coffee, writing and window shopping this is my favorite way to go. As you can see I am not afraid of mixing prints or color but the reason for this look was from from that. When I am off work I like my look to reflect so. Which led my eye to this mini polka dot number. However, it’s synched waist, fluffy sleeves and pe

Movies for the Fashion Brained (22/32)
Below is a list of all of the films I believe any fashion loving person should consume. 1-12 are movies I have watched, studied and loved in order from most watched/influential to me to lesser so but still very much inspiring. The additional 5 documentaries are ones I have yet to see but plan on bingeing on in the very near future. I narrowed this list down to just biography’s/documentary films. Unzipped (1995) My favorite fashion film follows Isaac Mizrahi as he designs his

Design and Inspiration (20/32)
Where do clothing designs come from? What is Inspiration? How do you get inspired? How do you turn inspiration into an idea and later a product? None of these questions can be answered with a single all inclusive response. As every designer/artist is influenced and works in different ways. Most designers work off of some form of inspiration. Whether its someone they have met or studied, somewhere they have visited or just a series of photos collected; inspiration is the start

A Wardrobe I dream to Achieve (15/32)
Hermès Resort/Spring 2017 Remarkably refined as one can only come to expect from a brand so rich in tradition and expertise. I find myself easily wearing every piece in their women’s resort ’17 collection not only for a few seasons but forever. These are classic elements that I aspire to have in my closet. Pieces that are simple, sophisticated, strong and still full of color/personality. And all paired back to flats which once in awhile is quite refreshing. Unquestionably Po

My Relationship with Film (14/32)
Film and television have always been a huge part of my life. Not because I am a couch potato although I have been known to stay in bed for days bingeing on a series only to emerge for a caffeine fix. More so, because being a creative person I have looked to this medium as a huge form of inspiration. Finding pleasure in everything from black and white romances of the 50’s to the documentaries that introduced me to exciting artists and amazing music. Appreciating Modern Streami

Taming Your Scattered Brain (13/32)
I have had to come to accept that I am an extremely scattered person. Constantly misplacing things, forgetting why I went somewhere or just finding myself lost inside my own head. I have come to realize there are ups and downs to everything. However, in this case the ability to come up with a never ending stream of ideas/thoughts is about the only benefit I am seeing. Where as the negatives are endless. For example: Getting in the car only 5 minutes late only to realize I for
